21st Annual Rose Hill Golf Invitational

Please make plans to participate in the 21st Annual Rose Hill Golf Invitational on Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Bloomfield Hills Country Club. As always, it’s a great day for a great cause: All funds raised at the outing will directly benefit the patients at Rose Hill Center who are working hard to overcome their mental illness.

Men’s, women’s and mixed teams are invited to participate (afternoon round only)
Play 18 holes of golf on one of Michigan’s premier private courses
Compete in the “two best balls of the foursome” competition with full handicaps
Win prizes in our hole-in-one, longest-drive, and closest-to-the-pin contests
Enjoy a buffet lunch and complimentary snacks and beverages, including an open bar
Relax with evening cocktails and an hors d’oeuvres buffet in the Club’s dining room

Forms should be returned to Rose Hill via fax (248-634-7754), e-mail (dthom@rosehillcenter.org) or USPS (5130 Rose Hill Blvd, Holly, MI 48442). Payments can be mailed or made online on the donation page of the website. Select the amount, choose Event Payment from the Fund drop down menu, and indicate in Additional Notes who/what the payment is for. For questions, phone 248-531-2406.

Please join us from 10am – 3pm on Saturday, May 12th for the 11th Annual Rose Hill Fair featuring free hayrides, a petting farm, food tent, children’s activity area and more. This is a great family event and is fun for kids of all ages! Free admission and parking.

Rose Hill Board Member Honored

Rose Hill Center honored Richard T. Walsh as their Distinguished Volunteer at the AFP Greater Detroit Chapter’s National Philanthropy Day event on Thursday, November 17, 2011.

Dick has served on Rose Hill Center’s Board and its Executive Committee since its inception in 1989. He became Treasurer in 1992 and was also elected Treasurer of Rose Hill Foundation when it was established in 2003. The Boards’ fiduciary responsibility is paramount to Dick as evidenced by his prudent oversight of budgets, financial statements and investments. He has been a member of numerous committees and involved in a variety of projects. Dick has been influential in Rose Hill’s past successes and he continues to be instrumental in securing Rose Hill’s future.

All of us at Rose Hill would like to thank Dick for all he has done for our organization, and congratulate him on his much-deserved honor!

Remembering our Heroes on Veteran’s Day

This Veteran’s Day, please join with Rose Hill Center in remembering our heroes whose battles continue every day. Mental health issues are becoming the leading health care concern faced by active service personnel and veterans. They face unique mental health challenges that affect their lives and the lives of their families.

On Veterans Day, as a nation, we must commit to doing more to address these mental health issues. That will be the true measure of honoring the men and women who deserve our thanks for their service.

Rose Hill Welcomes Dr. Christina Zachar to Clinical Staff

Dr. Christina Zachar recently joined Rose Hill’s clinical staff as a part-time psychiatrist. In this role, Dr. Zachar will be responsible for conducting psychiatric and diagnostic evaluations as well as therapeutic interventions for patients. Initially, she will manage a caseload of up to 25 patients.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, Dr. Zachar received her medical degree from Michigan State University in Lansing and completed her residency training at Henry Ford Health Sciences Center in Detroit. She has specialized in behavior health for more than 15 years and is currently the psychiatric director at Segue, Inc., a nonprofit mental health agency that provides patients with essential and intensive outpatient services.

In addition, Dr. Zachar is a staff psychiatrist at Henry Ford Health System as well as a clinical assistant professor at Wayne State University. She is also a member of the American Psychiatric Association and Michigan Psychiatric Society.

“Dr. Zachar is an exceptional physician and brings with her substantial knowledge of mental health issues,” said Ben Robinson, president of Rose Hill Center. “She is very conscientious of her patients’ needs and we are confident that she will be an excellent addition to the team at Rose Hill Center.”

Ben Robinson, President of Rose Hill Center, will be interviewed on “Sunday Edition”, a public affairs radio program hosted by Alisa Zee. The interview will take place this Sunday (October 16) from 6–7am and can be heard on the following FM radio stations: WOMC-104.3, WYCD-99.5, 98.7 AMP, and 97.1 The Ticket. It will also air on WXYT-1270 AM. We have been told that the questions will focus on the topic of mental illness and there will be an opportunity to discuss the specific treatment options available at Rose Hill.
